About the Event

The Future of Reproductive Health Care The Division of Women's Health in Emergency Medicine invites you to save the date for a conference on April 23, 2025. The scope and role of the nation’s EDs has shifted, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. More patients are showing up to EDs than ever before. The majority of patients walk out the same way they walked in, but perceive they have nowhere else to seek care. When a patient does require inpatient admission, often a bed is not available, and the patient “boards” in the ED for 72 hours or more. Today’s EDs are on the front lines of the opioid epidemic, gun violence, sexual assault, infectious disease, complex illness, cardiac arrest, and, increasingly, reproductive health. Historically, EDs have not needed to provide comprehensive reproductive healthcare. But the landscape of the US healthcare system has shifted dramatically. The scope of…
